OBA comprehensive digital healthcare platform
Designed to simplify access to medications, wellness services, and health products for patients. The project was initiated to bridge the gap between patients, doctors, pharmacies, and wellness providers, offering a one-stop solution for health management.
The Challenge:
Patients often face challenges in accessing medications safely, booking telemedicine consultations, and finding reliable wellness products or health programs in one place. Traditional healthcare journeys are fragmented, requiring patients to visit multiple providers and platforms, submit paper prescriptions, and manage different payment systems.
Objectives / Goals:
- Provide patients with a secure and convenient way to purchase medications and wellness products online.
- Enable doctors to review and approve medications that require a prescription through online surveys.
- Facilitate telemedicine appointments with video call sessions.
- Expand healthcare coverage to specialized services like mental health, men’s health, women’s health, and lab services.
- Introduce wellness services and programs that go beyond traditional medical care.
- Integrate digital payments and product shipping.
- Introduce a membership-based healthcare model with exclusive discounts and benefits.
- Build an ecosystem connecting patients, doctors, pharmacies, and wellness providers in one platform.
Approach / Solution:
- We built OBA as a secure, user-friendly healthcare platform with features tailored to patient, doctor, pharmacy, and wellness needs:
- Medication Ordering & Approval: Patients can browse and purchase medications. For restricted medications, they must complete a survey that is reviewed and approved by a doctor before fulfillment.
- Telemedicine Integration: Patients can book online video call sessions with doctors for consultations.
- Specialized Health Services: Dedicated sections for Mental Health, Men’s Health, Women’s Health, and Lab Services including diagnostic labs and home blood draws.
- Smart Recommendations: After completing a health survey, the system can recommend:
- Telemedicine visits with appropriate specialists
- Medications or wellness plans (subject to doctor approval)
- Wellness & Lifestyle Offerings: OBA also provides supplements, vitamins, fitness equipment, diagnostics, wellness programs, and online health plans.
- Membership Benefits: Members receive special discounted prices, digital membership cards, and loyalty perks.
- Doctor Selection: Patients can filter doctors by specialty or sort them by rating to ensure they choose the right healthcare professional.
- Prescription & Document Uploads: Patients can upload prescriptions or other medical documents for doctors to review.
- Doctor Portal: Doctors can add and manage patient records, including allergies, diagnosis, vitals, and prescribed medications.
- Integration with MDClara: Doctors who use MDClara — a full EMR and telemedicine solution — can seamlessly manage both their clinic patients and OBA patients from one system.
- Pharmacy Role: Partner pharmacies can upload medications, prepare shipments, and integrate with ShipStation for delivery and tracking.
- Patient Dashboard: Personalized dashboards allow patients to track approvals, appointments, orders, shipping, telemedicine credits, membership perks, and wellness services.
- Payment & Delivery: Patients can securely pay via Stripe, and medications/products are shipped directly to their address.
Implementation / Execution
OBA was implemented using WordPress as the core platform, enhanced with custom-developed code to handle advanced medical workflows, telemedicine, and third-party integrations.
In addition to the website, a mobile app version was developed and published on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, ensuring accessibility across all devices. This allowed patients to access medications, consultations, and wellness services anytime.
Results / Outcomes
- Patients now have a centralized healthcare & wellness hub for medications, supplements, diagnostics, and telemedicine.
- Expanded services like wellness programs, online health plans, and home blood draws made OBA unique in the market.
- Doctors benefited from a fully integrated environment by connecting OBA with MDClara’s EMR and telemedicine solution.
- Pharmacies became active stakeholders, ensuring accurate supply and streamlined shipping via ShipStation.
- Secure Stripe payments simplified billing and improved trust.
- Membership benefits encouraged patient loyalty and recurring engagement.
- A complete Figma UI/UX flow was designed for both website and mobile app.
- Mobile app launch increased adoption and usability for patients.
